Sam Chien of Northwestern captures first NCJGA College Division
Sam Chien will be leaving San Diego to attend Northwestern University but not before he captured the North County Invitational at Shadworidge CC! His score of 2 under 70 was good enough to edge out RBV's hot Preston Toulon (just returning from the Hogan Cup in Oregon) Preston jumped into his shoes and fired a 71 to edge out Yale's Taylor Hakes (72) of Coranado. Colleges represented - Northwestern - Yale - Penn - San Diego State - University of San Fransico - Sonama State - Palomar College
Boys High School (14-17) - Gold Division - Local leads field
Local Shadowridge CC member Cody Greathouse showed up and fired a smooth 74 to outdistance the field of 12 players, runner up was Carlsbad's Brian Wood (82) tie for third was determined by a cardoff with Jake Manici (83) and Mark Reiner (83) both of Carlsbad. Schools represented - Carlsbad high - Tri City Christian - Poway - Rancho Bernardo - RBV - Fallbrook - San Marcos - Mission Hills - Torrey Pines - Oceanside
Boys High School (14-17) - Silver Division - Knott captures first victory
Carlsbad's Colin Knott (94) was good enough for a one shot victory over San Marcos's John Gormally (95) rounding out the top three was Michael Randall (96) of Carlsbad. The silver division is for boys just getting started in competitive events, many of the student / athletes really improve and contribute to the high school teams later in the year!!
Girls High School (14-17) - Oceanside's Alyssa Waite stays hot
Oceanside's Alyssa Waite made it four straight championships as she heads into high school at El Camino her round of 78 brought her another victory, runner up was Mt. Carmel's Tracey Huynh (84) and tying for third San Marcos's Kelsey Peters (89) and Valley Center's Annelise Frederiksen (89).
Boys (11-13) - Gold Division - Curtis Bee wins playoff
Vista's Curtis Bee (77) capped off a remarkable summer by defeating Tyler Moore (77) of Escondido in two hole playoff , both players shook hands and acted like perfect gentleman upon completion of the playoff. Finishing third was Vista's Davis Owen (82).
Boys 11-13 - Silver Division - Jonathon Cassidy wins NCJGA event
Encinitas's Jonathon Cassidy fired a 82 finally putting all the parts of his game together to capture the title, runnerup Fallbrook's Derek Deming (88) and in third Oceanside's Eric Delarosa (90) in fourth Carlsbad's Logan Moore (92).
Girls 11-13 - Haley Moore fires and 82 to win
Esondido's Haley Moore finished off a busy summer with a big victory her score of 82 was impressive for a 9 year old playing off the red tees! Nice Going! Finishing runner up was Rancho Bernardo's Paris Griffith (98) and in third Emma Riggins (112) of Oceanside.
Boys / Girls 9 holes
A total of seven players went around for 9 holes and all seemed to enjoy the long walk with friends playing golf! Victory went to local Jason Bennett (55) of Carlsbad in second Spencer Keene (56) of Oceanside and in third AJ Vaughan (63) of Carlsbad, also recieving medals Chase Connelly, Noah Owen, Pierce Cahill and Jessica Pindiak!
